A standard NHS cholesterol test gives you total cholesterol and HDL. That is not enough to know your actual heart risk. This panel adds ApoB and Lp(a) — the two markers that, in the Mendelian-randomisation research, predict cardiovascular disease more reliably than total cholesterol alone — plus hs-CRP for the inflammatory side of the picture. It is the picture you need before deciding whether diet, training, or medication is actually working.
Ideal for

The kit arrives in a small box with a finger-prick lancet, two vials, and a prepaid return envelope. The whole sample takes about ten minutes at home, no clinic visit and no needle.
Drop the sealed return envelope in any post box the same day. Your sample lands at the UKAS-accredited UK lab the next working day. Results in your inbox within five days of the lab receiving the sample.
HOW WE READ IT

QUESTIONS
The Heart Health panel measures a full lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides), ApoB (the most accurate predictor of cardiovascular risk), Lp(a) (a genetic risk factor), hs-CRP (chronic inflammation), and HbA1c (metabolic health). These are the markers most GPs do not routinely check.
LDL cholesterol measures the amount of cholesterol carried by atherogenic particles, but ApoB counts the actual number of those particles. Two people with identical LDL levels can have very different particle counts. The particle count drives plaque formation. Leading cardiologists now consider ApoB the single best blood marker for cardiovascular risk.
Lipoprotein(a) is a genetic risk factor for heart disease that affects roughly 1 in 5 people. Unlike LDL, Lp(a) levels are almost entirely determined by genetics and do not change with diet or exercise. Most GPs never test it. Knowing your level helps you and your doctor make better decisions about overall cardiovascular risk management.
Fasting is not strictly required for the Heart Health panel, but a 9 to 12 hour overnight fast (water is fine) can give more accurate triglyceride and LDL results. If you eat beforehand, your total cholesterol, HDL, ApoB, Lp(a), and hs-CRP results will still be reliable.
Yes. In fact, testing while on statins helps you and your doctor see whether your current medication is bringing your markers into the optimal range. ApoB is particularly useful for monitoring statin effectiveness because it responds more predictably than LDL alone.
