Helvy tool
Cholesterol Result Decoder
An NHS cholesterol result gives you the headline numbers, but not the two that often matter most: your non-HDL cholesterol and your TC:HDL ratio. Enter your numbers and we will work them out and place each against its UK target.
Enter the numbers from your result in mmol/L. Total and HDL are enough; LDL and triglycerides add detail.
How this is worked out
Targets are the NHS / HEART UK figures cited in our cholesterol guide: total below 5.0 mmol/L, LDL below 3.0, HDL above 1.0 (men) or 1.2 (women), triglycerides below 2.3 (fasting), TC:HDL ratio below 6.0. Non-HDL is total minus HDL; the ratio is total divided by HDL. These are targets for context, not a cardiovascular risk score (your GP uses tools like QRISK) and not a diagnosis.
This tool is for general wellbeing information and is not a diagnosis or medical advice. It places the numbers you enter in context; it cannot tell you whether you have a condition. If a result concerns you, or you have symptoms, speak to your GP.
Measure it properly
A calculator works on numbers you already have. The Advanced Heart Health panel is processed by a UKAS-accredited lab and reviewed by a qualified clinician.
